For each edition of Hilton Covered published a Hilton based project has received R10, 000.00. Our full page advertisers get to vote from motivations received. This year the most votes came in for Ndabezinhle Crèche who will be using the donation towards a new “phunguluthu”.
Below are all the motivations we received...as you read through you will realise that R10, 000.00 does not go far enough and perhaps you will be inspired to assist one of our Hilton Cares projects.
Ndabezinhle Crèche:
The numbers of children aged 2 to 4, attending Ndabezinhle Crèche, established in 2004 in the Mbutshane area of Sweetwaters, have grown and we are needing to build an outside “phunguluthu” toilet alongside the Creche building. The R 10,000.00 would go towards this project.

Never Never Land Creche:
Never Never Land Crèche has been in existence for the past 15 years.

We don't have an art or dining area. We have a big veranda. We would like to put blinds in our veranda and use it as an art and dining area.
We also have a gardening project within the crèche premises run by the grandparents of our kids. We also have a Youth Development Programme. Six post matric youngsters help with home works, and providing mentoring to children younger than them. 30 children from the nearby Sbongumbomvu School attend this programme. The youth in charge of this programme are the siblings of the children at our crèche. We would like to buy tents where these youngsters can do all the activities they do as they use the veranda for now.
Should we be lucky to be awarded the R10 000 we would do the following:

We assure you that should we be awarded this R10 000 we will use it sorely for the 3 projects, the crèche, the gardens, and the youth development programme.
STEPP:
STEPP will spend R10 000.00 on a partnership in Mpumuza with Insika High School. The money will be used to purchase calculators and Maths books for the Grade 8/9 Maths year. An 11% pass rate was measured for Maths at a Grade 9 level in our region.

STEPP and Insika High School have partnered to lay a good Maths foundation for Grade 12 as part of a whole school development initiative. The partnership involves providing Maths resources, tutoring pupils, staff training and holiday clubs.
The Care Bear Project:
R10 000 will fund 125 teddy bears, made with love and care by ladies in the Sweetwaters and Cedara communities. Each bear costs approximately R80 to make, of which R50 is paid to the knitter. This means R6250 will be paid directly to these impoverished communities, making a difference in the lives of many families. Our knitters are mainly pensioners. There are no costs to them as materials are provided, they work from home so no transport costs are incurred, and they can continue to look after their grandchildren while they work.
