Master Maths Hilton is owned by Roger Sheppard and has now opened in Hilton Village. Roger first started a centre in Pietermaritzburg West in 2011 and has offered Master Maths tuition since then.
The Hilton centre is situated at: Suite 12, Build-it Centre, Quarry Park, 5a Quarry Road, Hilton.
The centre is open from noon until 6:15pm daily, Monday – Friday, and between 8 – 10 am on Saturdays.
Master Maths nation-wide, has been in operation since 1976. Our system allows learners to work independently, while providing support when it is needed. This is achieved through a combination of inspired tutors and interactive computer lessons to create a unique learning environment. The lesson content is compiled by highly competent mathematics teachers, who ensure this content correlates to the current South African Curriculum Statement. Our system offers maths tuition for grades 4 to 12.
Each learner who enrols at a Master Maths centre is evaluated. This allows our tutors to ensure that their learner's experience is individualised. Tutors pin-point any learner's problem areas and develop a plan of action to address any weaknesses efficiently. Tutors spend quality time with each learner during their sessions, which enables them to assess and guide his or her progress and help to reinforce concepts. This will help learners in an exam situation, where tutors and teachers may not step in to assist.
At Master Maths we encourage learners to begin tuition as early in the year as possible. In the long term it's more affordable to pay a regular set tuition fee each month, rather than to add more sessions and then cram just before exams. Exam revision is made easy with the grade 10 to 12 revision programmes offered at the centre. These are specific sessions, and learners should enquire about these and book early to ensure their place in the centre.
Roger looks forward to the Master Maths Programme in Hilton making a significant impact on any learner's maths progress, in the Hilton area and beyond. A Hilton College production - The play begins in Spain, where our main character Pizarro, is recruiting men for an expedition to Peru. He is accompanied by his second-in-command, a Catholic priest determined to spread the shining light of Christianity. At the beginning of the voyage Pizarro is obsessed with chivalry, glory and honour, but becomes increasingly disillusioned throughout, as a crisis of faith also unravels.
The Spanish expedition, hungry for gold, invades Peru. Heartlessly they massacre 3,000 Incas and take captive, Atahualpa the king of Incas and son of the Sun god. Instead of killing him, Pizarro makes a deal with Atahualpa that if he fills an entire room with objects made from gold in two months, he will be set free. The story unfolds with the narration of Old Martin and ends in tragedy fuelled by obsessive faith and greed.
The expedition is predominantly in the name of gold, religion and belief; all Incas being heathens who must be brought before God. The play critically studies these two themes throughout the discovery of Atahualpa - the Inca Sun God - and massacre of the Incas themselves.

Hilton Covered, the upmarket business directory focused on Hilton which is compiled and produced annually by DP Design and HiltonVillage.co.za, was the catalyst that resulted in Singakwenza receiving a R15, 000.00 donation from NCT Forestry Co-operative Limited.
Hilton Covered gives Hilton based projects complimentary exposure online and also in the directory under the title Hilton Cares. This exposure enabled the PR & Communications Manager at NCT Forestry to identify a project they could aid. The biggest hero in this tale is NCT Forestry, but we are thrilled to bits that our business directory played a small role in this very happy event!
'Being featured in Hilton Covered, under Hilton Cares, led to a mutually beneficial partnership for Singakwenza and NCT Forestry. The ultimate beneficiaries being the children at the crèches that Singakwenza mentors. NCT donated funding to enable the children at Senzokhule crèche to enjoy some new tables and chairs, Mickey Mouse crèche will have an awning over their play area enabling the children to play come rain or shine and Singakwenza will run 3 Waste2Toys workshops teaching caregivers how to make educational toys from waste. Each delegate will be given a pair of sharp scissors and a marker pen, sponsored by NCT, to use at the workshop.
Collaboration between corporates and non-profit organisations is extremely valuable ensuring that those in economically disadvantaged communities benefit from the partnerships.
Thank you to Hilton Covered for making this possible and to NCT for your generosity! 'Said Linda Hill, Project Coordinator and Fundraiser at Singakwenza.

Tucked away, up on a slope in Walters Road, Hilton you will find artist and author, Mariánne Eriksson the owner of Hillberry Art Gallery. This Pretoria born artist and fine art graduate spent around a decade immersed in studying and painting in Paris. She has had ten successful one man exhibitions which received positive reviews from the media in South Africa.
Mariánne enjoys working from her studio with its views across the Winterskloof Valley and onwards to Pietermaritzburg. She notes that since relocating to the Midlands her studies have softened. She is leaning toward use of a gentler palette and her work appears lighter and cooler since being inspired by the local misty clime.
Cut back on your Easter binge and invest instead in a beautiful, original Eriksson pastel, acrylic or watercolour. All the works noted below will be on sale over the Easter weekend at a massively reduced 50% of the listed price!
